A Message from Moni

I created Storytelling With Community™ because communities deserve more than to be studied, surveyed, or spoken about. They deserve to be heard, respected, and included in shaping how their knowledge and experiences are understood and shared.

This guide is for community members, organizers, educators, researchers, students, and organizations committed to working differently. It offers practical activities for listening deeply, examining power, building trust, sharing decisions, and moving community knowledge into meaningful action.

My hope is that you will use this guide with others. Gather around a table, begin a conversation, complete an activity, and reflect honestly on what it means to tell stories with communities rather than about them. Trust is infrastructure, and we build it through what we practice together.

This is my gift to the community. May it help us honor knowledge, strengthen relationships, and create change rooted in the wisdom of the people.

With gratitude, commitment, and abrazos,

Moni
